Our Faculty's Nursing Department started education in the 1998-1999 Academic Year within the Burdur Health High School. Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Health High School was closed in accordance with the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2016/8562, published in the Official Gazette dated April 08, 2016, and numbered 29678, and the Faculty of Health Sciences was established in its place with the same Council of Ministers Decision. Our department has continued its service within the faculty since the same date.
Our aim is to train nurses who help protect and improve the health of individuals, families, and society based on science at the national and international level, determine the needs of patients, plan, implement, and evaluate care in line with professional standards and ethical codes, and effectively use their roles in education, research, management, leadership, and consultancy as members of the health team. The nursing undergraduate program includes basic courses such as basic medical sciences, natural and social sciences, professional sciences in nursing, and courses aimed at nursing practice. In applied nursing courses, students first develop their skills on mannequins in the technical laboratory; later, they carry out their practical training under the supervision of teaching staff in real environments such as hospitals, community health, and some public and private institutions.

Tuition Fee: During course registration/renewal procedures, the contribution fee/tuition fee can be learned from the "Fee Information" menu on the Student Information System (https://obs.mehmetakif.edu.tr/oibs/ogrenci/login.aspx) address. No tuition fee is charged from students in our department.

Theoretical education is carried out in the Faculty of Health Sciences Building, and practical education is carried out in Burdur State Hospital, Burdur Public Health Center, Burdur Community Mental Health Center, schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Clinical Skills laboratories in the Faculty building, and the Nursing Home.
Program Accreditation: The department does not have accreditation. The Accreditation Commission continues its work.

Academic Staff
The academic staff of the department consists of 4 Associate Professors, 12 Doctor Lecturers, 4 Lecturers, and 3 Research Assistants with PhDs who have specialized in their fields. The teaching staff in the department conducts multidisciplinary studies in their respective fields. Our academic staff also conducts various studies together with students.
Curriculum
The department curriculum has been created within the scope of the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework and the National Core Education Program in Nursing. Students start clinical practice from the 2nd year and continue their education at the bedside in the clinic four days a week in the 4th year.
Student Communities
We have two student communities with academic advisors from our department. In this way, we contribute to the social development of our students from the first year.
Practice Areas
Our department has two laboratories, namely the Basic Skills and Obstetrics/Child Laboratory. In addition, the department's teaching staff continues their preparations for the establishment of a simulation laboratory. Clinical practices are carried out in institutions affiliated with the Burdur Provincial Health Directorate.
